The New Industrial Corporation (the NIC) is seeking a Director, Technical Projects & Procurement to support the delivery and execution of industrial-scale capital projects across its investment platform. The role sits within the NIC’s management company and works across multiple portfolio projects to support equipment procurement, supply chain development, technical execution and construction delivery.

Purpose of the Role

  • Provide technical leadership across equipment procurement and supplier strategy
  • Validate capital project execution assumptions following investment
  • Ensure procurement and contracting structures support project finance and lender requirements
  • Reduce execution and delivery risk during project development and construction phases
  • Act as a technical interface between project execution teams, suppliers and investment stakeholders
  • Translate technical and procurement realities into commercially credible project outcomes

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead evaluation and selection of major equipment suppliers across multiple asset classes
  • Oversee procurement strategies for greenfield industrial and infrastructure projects
  • Assess technical scope, delivery schedules and vendor/contractor capability
  • Evaluate preconstruction and construction schedules and budgets, including FEL2-level estimating inputs
  • Support development of supply chains aligned to project timelines
  • Structure equipment contracts supporting project financing and bankability requirements
  • Review capex and opex assumptions related to equipment delivery
  • Oversee contractor and supplier performance during execution
  • Participate in project governance from development through construction
  • Work across 2–3 concurrent projects at different stages of execution
  • Travel to project sites as required

  • Effective mitigation of equipment and supplier execution risk
  • Procurement strategies aligned with project financing requirements
  • Successful progression of projects through financial close and construction milestones
  • Reliable contractor and supplier performance across concurrent projects

Candidate Profile

  • Engineering or technical background (mechanical, mining, chemical, industrial or similar)
  • Approximately 5–10 years’ experience in capital project execution environments
  • Experience with greenfield or early-stage industrial developments
  • Demonstrated responsibility for major equipment packages or procurement workstreams
  • Experience within an industrial investment platform, infrastructure investor, or industrial developer strongly preferred
  • Experience with estimating and project scheduling in either contractor or owner environments
  • Alternatively, experience within owner, EPC contractor, or mining/industrial operator environments with exposure to capital project financing
  • Strong contractor interface and supplier negotiation experience
  • Familiarity with large capital projects ($100M+ preferred)
  • Demonstrated exposure to lender-facing or project finance environments
  • Ability to understand how technical, procurement and delivery decisions impact project bankability
  • Comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders including investors, lenders and project partners
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen to evaluate capex, opex and contract risk implications across contractor models
  • Strong communication and presentation capability
  • Ability to operate independently across multiple projects without junior support structures

Location & Working Model

  • Candidate does not need to be U.S.-based but must demonstrate strong professional experience operating within U.S. project environments
  • Preference for candidates with established relationships across the Southeastern United States
  • Home-based role with significant travel
  • Candidate should be located near a major international airport
  • Geographic flexibility including Canada or major North American cities
